Normally I put a roll of film into my camera and shoot as I please. I might finish a roll in 2 days or 6 weeks. I was given a roll of Revolog Texture film by Hannah Pribitzer and Michael Krebs, the owners of Revolog Film. I have mentioned here before that I am not a special effects film shooter, but I had fantastic and exciting results with their Revolog Kolor film on my Contax G1 and I will shoot it again. I felt though the Revolog Texture film performing at its best would still not be a good fit for me.

Because of this I didn't want the roll to linger on and last a month, so I specifically shot it in a day or two just to see the results. I found in the end that I had felt what I thought in the beginning. The film was not for me. It's very cool and works as advertised, but it doesn't have a place in my favorite films. It seems to produce more desirable results when shot in bright scenes. Unfortunately the whole roll was shot in Serbia in the middle of December so I never got to see the Revolog Texture film at what might have been its best. I think the Revolog Texture film is best suited exactly for who it seems to be advertised to, a film shooter where experimentation is at the crux of their style.

I do like the surprise that comes along with developing every roll, but I also like to have as much control as possible when shooting film. The unpredictability and randomness of Revolog Texture film is not an extra surprise I'm comfortable with accepting on a daily basis. Obviously my experiences are not yours, so please see what you like about the images below and give a film a try. There are many other Revolog films I have yet to try and plan to. Again, the Revolog Kolor film was great and I'm looking forward to the next roll.
