Born in Québec, Canada in 1821, Napoleon Sarony moved to New York City at just 15 years old and started a lithography business. He became very well known throughout the decades for his portraits of late 19th century American theater stars. Some of his most notable portraits include, Oscar Wild, Sarah Bernhardt, Nikola Tesla, and President Grover Cleveland.
